Getinge Strengthens Commitment to Indian Market and Healthcare Sector

Getinge, a global medtech trailblazer, is set to bolster its impact on the Indian market by capitalizing on its India Innovation Centre (IIC) and nurturing strategic collaborations with industry and academia, serving a global market. The company enjoys a solid market position in India across a range of product segments, including ventilators (30%), heart-lung machines (50%), intra-aortic balloon pumps (70%), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) (90%), and operating room tables (25%).

Getinge India Pvt. Ltd.’s Managing Director, Aruna Nayak, emphasized the company’s significant role in India’s healthcare sector progress, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Getinge provided vital support to healthcare workers by delivering record installations of advanced ventilators and ECMO products. Additionally, their service engineers completed around 10,000 service calls concerning these devices.

Nayak also mentioned that India now ranks among Getinge’s top 10 markets globally, with the company actively working alongside 10,000 Indian hospitals to build a world-class infrastructure. Getinge is committed to not only launching state-of-the-art technologies and devices in India, but also manufacturing them locally and making them available to the US and European Union markets. As investments in healthcare infrastructure continue to grow, the company is well-prepared to cater to the Indian market with its top-quality products.

In alignment with their vision for India, Getinge established an Innovation Centre in Bangalore in January 2020. This center focuses on creating advanced and affordable solutions for emergency critical care and clinical trials. Furthermore, Getinge has formed a partnership with IIT Bombay’s School of Biomedical Engineering to develop innovative and cost-effective emergency critical care solutions, incorporating lessons learned from the pandemic.
