Orbis and PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital inaugurate sustainable Green Vision Center in Maharashtra

Orbis and PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital have partnered to launch the Green Vision Center (GVC) in Satara, Maharashtra, to provide primary eye care and quality optical services to local communities in an eco-friendly way. The center, which uses clean solar-powered electricity, energy-efficient electrical fixtures and appliances, and digital data management, aims to encourage sustainable development while promoting affordable and quality eye care services.

The GVC’s launch is a crucial step towards uninterrupted access to eye health services for the communities while contributing to the sustainable development goals, according to Derek Hodkey, President and CEO of Orbis International. In addition to providing better patient care and management through digital data management software, the GVC serves as an innovative approach towards addressing long-term issues of sustainability and environmental responsibility. The center has been designed to empower stakeholders and governments with real-time data to enable better planning and response.

Orbis, a global non-governmental organization with a focus on the prevention and treatment of avoidable blindness, operates in partnership with local organizations, including hospitals, universities, government agencies, and ministries of health. The launch of the GVC is yet another significant step by Orbis in achieving its goal of providing accessible quality eye care services globally. PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital, a leading tertiary eye hospital in Pune, is known for its state-of-the-art facilities and equipment offering nine subspecialties in eye care, including quality clinical care and patient safety.
