In a significant development for the healthcare sector, Gordon McInally, a member of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry, Scotland, took office as the President of Rotary International (RI) in July 2023. McInally’s tenure will be defined by a major focus on mental health, marking a shift in the organization’s traditional areas of focus.
McInally aims to leverage Rotary’s vast global network of 1.4 million members, spread across 200 countries and regions, to drive forward initiatives to understand, support, and raise awareness of mental health. By creating a culture that sees mental health as a critical element of community wellbeing, McInally seeks to reduce stigma and increase accessibility to mental health services worldwide.
“Mental health has often been a less talked-about aspect of wellness. However, in a world grappling with various challenges, it is imperative that we bring mental health to the forefront. This is about nurturing humanity for a better tomorrow,” said McInally.
